Quectel Launches Advanced 5G RedCap Modules to Scale Global IoT Connectivity

Quectel Wireless Solutions has officially expanded its 5G RedCap (Reduced Capability) portfolio with the introduction of two high-performance modules: the RM255C-GL for international markets and the RG255C-NA tailored for North America. These new additions are designed to provide a cost-effective yet powerful transition for industries moving toward Industrial 5G and large-scale IoT deployments.
As the global IoT ecosystem evolves, there is a growing need for solutions that sit between high-speed broadband and low-power narrowband IoT. 5G RedCap addresses this “mid-tier” requirement, offering a perfect balance of energy efficiency and robust data performance.
Engineered for worldwide compatibility, the RM255C-GL is a Sub-6GHz module based on the 3GPP Release 17 standard.
The RG255C-NA is specifically designed to meet the technical demands of the North American market.
According to Leo Yao, Product Director at Quectel, the launch of these modules is a strategic milestone. By eliminating the difficult trade-off between high performance and high cost, Quectel is making 5G ubiquitous. Beyond the hardware, Quectel provides full reference designs and global technical support to help customers reduce development barriers and shorten their product’s time-to-market.
Both the RM255C-GL and RG255C-NA have completed essential regulatory testing. The North American model (RG255C-NA) is already certified by FCC, IC, and PTCRB, while the global variant holds CE, RCM, GCF, and other international marks, ensuring it is ready for immediate deployment across various sectors.
