Quantum Systems to Provide 15,000 Interceptor UAVs to Ukraine in Partnership with WIY Drones

March 24, 2026

German drone manufacturer Quantum Systems is set to deliver 15,000 interceptor drones to Ukraine to bolster its air defense. This agreement aligns with the Ukrainian government’s strategic priority to neutralize aerial threats.

Key Highlights of the Expansion

  • Target Recipient: The unmanned systems will be supplied to the National Guard of Ukraine to counter incoming aerial attacks.
  • Strategic Investment: This initiative follows an investment by the German firm into WIY Drones, a local manufacturer of unmanned systems.
  • Localized Production: The partnership aims to support the domestic manufacturing and maintenance of battle-tested interceptor technologies within Ukraine.
  • Focus on the “Arrow” System: Efforts will center on scaling the production of the STRILA (meaning “arrow”) interceptor drone, designed to engage high-speed and agile targets.

Industrial Scaling and Future Goals

Sven Kruck, Co-CEO of the German manufacturing firm, emphasized that Ukrainian engineers have pioneered some of the world’s most proficient counter-drone technologies. By bringing these designs to an industrial scale, the partnership intends to help Ukraine secure its airspace.

Furthermore, the collaboration is part of a broader strategy to foster defense innovation. While the current focus is meeting urgent local operational needs, the joint effort may eventually support the export of surplus production to international partners.
