Anritsu and Industry Leaders Demonstrate Breakthrough Non-Terrestrial Network (NTN) Use Cases for Automotive Safety

Anritsu Corporation, a global leader in test and measurement solutions, has announced its key role as the official Test and Measurement Partner in two groundbreaking demonstrations of 3GPP Release 17-compliant Non-Terrestrial Network (NTN) technologies at the 5G Automotive Association (5GAA) meetings in Paris.

These world-first live demonstrations showcased the technical readiness and societal impact of NTN technologies in real-world scenarios, particularly in the realm of automotive safety and emergency communications.

Pioneering Industry Collaborations

In the first collaboration, Anritsu partnered with BMW Group, Deutsche Telekom, Viasat, and Skylo to measure end-to-end NTN Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). The use cases demonstrated included:

• Local hazard warnings
• Emergency messaging beyond cellular coverage

A second partnership with LG Electronics, Cubic3, Viasat, and Skylo focused on:

• Voice over NTN (VoNTN)
• Seamless switching between terrestrial and non-terrestrial networks

In both demonstrations, Anritsu’s integrated test solutions—including the Network Master Pro MT1000A and virtual testing platforms—enabled real-time monitoring of latency, reliability, and quality-of-service (QoS) metrics across live NTN environments.

These proof-of-concept use cases underscore the critical role of NTN in extending communications infrastructure to remote or coverage-challenged areas—supporting:

• Vehicle-to-network (V2N) safety messages
• Critical alerts for drivers and pedestrians
