U.S. Army Deploys Precision Strike Missile in Combat for the First Time

The United States military has officially marked the first combat deployment of the Precision Strike Missile (PrSM) during Operation Epic Fury, according to a statement from U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM). The milestone was confirmed on Wednesday by Admiral Brad Cooper, the commander of CENTCOM.
CENTCOM highlighted that the use of this next-generation weapon provides the U.S. military with an “unrivaled deep strike capability.” Admiral Cooper expressed his pride in the service members who are leveraging such innovations to create strategic dilemmas for adversaries, emphasizing the role of new technology in expanding modern operational options.
Developed by Lockheed Martin, the PrSM is a surface-to-surface weapon system designed to enhance the long-range strike capabilities of brigade, division, and corps-level forces.
The PrSM features an open systems architecture and a modular design, allowing the military to adapt the hardware to evolving operational requirements. By providing increased lethality and survivability, the system is intended to be a cornerstone of deterrence for the Joint Force.
