This antenna is a compact, low-profile solution designed to support 2G, 3G, 4G, and sub-6 GHz 5G systems within a single unit. It efficiently covers four key frequency bands: 0.8 – 0.96 GHz, 1.7 – 2.7 GHz, 3.3 – 3.8 GHz, and 4.8 – 5.0 GHz. The design utilizes an asymmetrical dipole and parasitic patches for the lower bands. A folded, stepped-impedance feeding structure improves impedance matching and also functions as a radiator for the 3.5 GHz band. A separate T-shaped patch is integrated to generate the resonance for the 5 GHz band.
The design was optimized using a parallel surrogate model-assisted evolutionary algorithm (PSADEA) to achieve robust performance across all bands.
Constructed from aluminum radiating elements supported by a 3D-printed PVC framework and housed in a PVC box, the antenna achieves a sturdy yet low-cost and lightweight design.
