Project Description

We are seeking experienced freelancers to collaborate on the design and development of a Direction Finding (DF) Antenna system. The project involves both hardware and software components and aims to produce a high-performance DF system capable of accurately determining the direction of incoming RF signals.

Hardware Requirements:
Design or selection of DF antenna elements (e.g., loop, spiral, or patch arrays)
Antenna array layout optimized for 360° azimuth coverage
PCB design (if applicable) and basic mechanical housing structure
Specification of supporting RF components: LNA, filters, switch/multiplexer (if needed)

Signal Processing / Software:
Real-time processing of RF signals to estimate angle of arrival (AoA)
Implementation of direction-finding algorithms (e.g., MUSIC, Watson-Watt, Correlative Interferometry, etc.)
GUI for displaying DF results in real-time (Azimuth angle, signal strength, and optionally a 2D polar plot)
Integration with SDR (e.g., RTL-SDR, HackRF, USRP) or VNA-based receivers

Communication & Data Handling:
Serial or TCP/UDP communication support between DF system and host computer
Export/logging of measurement data in CSV/JSON format
Optional: GPS tagging of measurement points

Freelancer Requirements:
Demonstrated experience with antenna design, RF systems, or signal processing
Familiarity with tools like CST, HFSS, MATLAB, Python (NumPy, SciPy), or GNURadio
Ability to work independently and deliver testable milestones
Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts

Additional Information:
I will provide theoretical references and expected performance targets.
Budget and timeline are negotiable depending on expertise and approach.
Preference for freelancers with prior experience in military, telecom, or academic antenna/RF projects.

Dear Hiring Manager, I am writing to express my strong interest in the Antenna Engineer position focused on Directional Finding (DF) antenna systems at Antenom Antenna Technologies. With a solid background in RF systems, antenna measurement, and electromagnetic simulation, I am confident in my ability to contribute effectively to your team and support the development of advanced DF technologies. Over the past 6 years, I have been deeply involved in the design, measurement, and analysis of antennas and microwave components. My experience includes developing 3D radiation pattern measurement systems, working with both passive and active components, and processing S-parameter data for performance analysis. I have also designed and implemented software tools to support real-time measurement visualization, database storage, and automated reporting. In one of my key projects, I led the development of a system capable of measuring DF antenna performance in azimuth and elevation planes with high angular resolution. I integrated motor control systems, Python-based GUI interfaces (using PySide6), and post-processing algorithms for determining parameters such as direction-finding accuracy, gain, and axial ratio. Additionally, I am proficient in using tools such as CST, HFSS, and MATLAB for antenna modeling and validation. What excites me about [Company Name] is your focus on innovative defense and communication technologies. I am particularly drawn to the opportunity to work with a multidisciplinary team to push the boundaries of antenna directionality and signal intelligence. I bring a research-oriented mindset, strong problem-solving skills, and a deep passion for antennas to the role. I would welcome the opportunity to discuss how I can contribute to your upcoming DF projects and provide technical value from day one. Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to the opportunity to speak further. Sincerely, Anil Arici
