Dual-Band Microstrip Patch Antenna for Wi-Fi Applications (2.4 & 5 GHz)
Project Description
We are seeking a freelancer to design and simulate a dual-band microstrip patch antenna that operates efficiently in both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi bands.
This project is fully simulation-based. The final result should include all simulation files and a clean, technical report.
🎯 Objectives:
- Design a dual-band microstrip patch antenna with:
- Operational frequencies: 2.4 GHz ± 50 MHz and 5.2–5.8 GHz
- Substrate material selection (FR4 or Rogers preferred)
- Compact size with reasonable isolation between bands
- Return loss better than –10 dB in both bands
- 50Ω impedance matching
- Perform full-wave simulation, including:
- S11 parameter plots for both bands
- Radiation patterns for both bands
- Gain and efficiency at each band
- VSWR and bandwidth analysis
- Document the full design process, including:
- Design rationale
- Parameter optimization
- Geometry sketches with labeled dimensions
- Comparison of performance at both bands
📦 Deliverables:
- Simulation model files (CST, HFSS, FEKO, or similar)
- Exported results:
- S11 vs frequency plots
- 2D and 3D radiation patterns
- VSWR plots
- Design report (5–8 pages) including:
- Design overview
- Results summary
- Discussion of trade-offs and practical considerations
- Image-based layout of the antenna with dimensions
🛠Suggested Tools:
- CST Microwave Studio
- HFSS, FEKO, or any full-wave 3D EM simulator
- Optional: Python/MATLAB for post-processing or plotting
🕒 Timeline: 10–14 days total
📥 How to Apply:
Applicants must include:
- A sample of a previous patch antenna project (image or report)
- Simulation software they will use
- Confirmation they are comfortable delivering the project independently
