Simulation and Optimization of a Compact 2.4 GHz Antenna for Embedded IoT Devices

Project Description

We are seeking a freelancer to remotely design and simulate a compact antenna operating at 2.4 GHz, optimized for use in small IoT devices such as smart sensors, wearables, or BLE-enabled modules. The antenna must demonstrate good performance when integrated into a PCB and enclosed in a plastic housing.

This project is focused on simulation-only — no hardware delivery or lab testing is required.

 

🧩 Project Goals:
Design a PCB-integrated antenna (examples: inverted-F, chip-style, or custom meandered design)
Optimize for:

Frequency: 2.4 GHz (±100 MHz)
Return loss: < -10 dB across band
Efficiency: >60% (target >75%)
Compact footprint (ideally <20 x 10 mm)
Simulate interaction with enclosure (standard ABS or PC plastic housing)
Minimize detuning due to nearby components (battery, ground plane, etc.)
Recommend tuning strategies for mass production
📦 Deliverables:

Antenna design files (CST, HFSS, or similar)
S-parameter data (S11 plots over 2.2–2.6 GHz)
3D simulation files including enclosure model
Radiation pattern (polar and 3D)
Efficiency vs frequency graph
Tuning guideline document (1–2 pages)
Optional: PCB layout (Gerber or DXF)

Any other industry-grade EM solver with 3D capabilities
💼 Ideal Freelancer Background:

Experience designing compact embedded antennas
Proven track record with RF simulation tools
Understanding of enclosure interactions, matching networks, and PCB integration challenges
Ability to deliver polished documentation and simulation files
